Event #3 of the SbA Dew Series presented by Arnette visited Victoria’s Geelong for the first time in the series four year history. The picturesque waterfront Skatepark played host to a huge day of skating action on what was to be a perfect day for skateboarding. Not only did the Victorian leg of the SbA Dew Series host its qualifying round for the state, but local retailer Strapper also run their final round of their inaugural Strapper Skate Series.

The Strapper series was the perfect build up unearthing some hidden talent from the Geelong & Surf Coast region that will join the Victorian qualifiers in Sydney during April.

Once the trophies were handed out for the Strapper winners the 15 years & under division of the SbA Dew Series got underway. Jai Stork (Albury) was a clear standout even before the event stated, Stork was out of the blocks early with a huge bag of tricks which included a variety of manuals, flips, Ollie to flat and sweet back tail, Jai looks like the one to beat in the Australian final if he keep this form up.

Stork took the win from Sam Atkins 2nd (Minifold Heights) & 3rd Patrick McEvoy (Torquay)

Lone soldier and funnyman Chris “Default” Craig (Werribee) took the win the 18 years & U division. Once the other skaters in his division work out who he was, they were too intimidated to compete with state champion. Never the less Default slayed the big 3 and manual pad with the sponsored boys showing he is going to be hard to beat for the Australian title in April.

The 18 Years & Under Girls
saw three girls fighting out for the podium spots and prizes. Kate Lewis (Southbank) showed she had the skills to at least make the finals for the girls division in Sydney with a couple of great ollies and a 50/50 on the manual pad. The encouragement award need to be handed out to 3 year old Tasha Saunders (Beaufort) who has already worked out how to push and roll off the manual pad.

18 Years & Under Sponsored – 1st Place – James Guida

That left the final division of the day for three sponsored skaters to compete in the 18 Years & Under Sponsored division, James Guida (Highton), Harley Powell (Monbulk) & Bradley Saunders (Beaufort). James and Harley showed the punters at the waterfront park how it was meant to be skated, with some tech manuals along with some huge tricks down the big three; these included nollie to flat, switch Ollie, pop shuv and a backside 180. All in all a sick finish to the day and SbA’s first event in Geelong. Stay tuned for the video coming out this week.
