Mount Panorama, Bathurst is getting set to stage a next generation event and the newest youth festival in Australia
Newton's Playground Mount Panorama's Gravity Fuelled Festival.
This extreme sport and live music event will hit the slopes of the iconic motor racing circuit over three days from 7th - 9th March 2008 (
Only Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th March will be open to public - Gate Times: See below)
Utilising some of the most famously hazardous sections of the Mountain circuit,
Newton’s Playground will accommodate competitors from Australia and overseas across a range of downhill gravity sport disciplines including Luge, Downhill Skateboarding, Gravity Bikes, Slalom, In-Line Speed Skating and Freestyle Skateboard Sliding.
Newton’s Playground is sanctioned by the world governing body – the International Gravity Sports Association (IGSA) meaning Australia will join countries including USA, Germany, France, Austria and South Africa to host an IGSA World Cup event in 2008.
Various other competitive & demonstrative sporting disciplines will also be a highlight including the
Newton’s Playground BMX Big Air Dirt Dance,
the Skate Miniramp Jam, Mountain Bike Dual Slalom, Carveboarding, Wakeboarding, Swooping & Wingsuit Flying.
Hitting the Skyline Stage over the course of the weekend will be an all Australian music lineup set to maintain the adrenaline charged nature of the event. Featuring Grinspoon, Gyroscope, Urthboy, Kid Kenobi, MM9, the Funky Punks, Tonk and much more.
Australia’s best BMX flatlanders – Simon O’Brien & Vinnie Pugh will be joining in the fun on-stage showing their BMX breakdancing skills and ensuring the Skyline Stage will be hard to miss.
Throw in a 24-hr Fuel TV bigscreen chill out zone, gravity fuelled rides including Tandem Skydives, an industry village and a variety of F&B outlets showcasing regional produce and we’ve got one hell of a party.
When sleep eventually calls – grab your patch of grass boasting million dollar views across the region & pitch a tent. Either that or let someone else pitch it for you. Campgrounds next door to McPhillamy Park are available to all nature loving Festival goers with the option of hiring a fully erected tent in Sir Isaac’s Tent City.
